When people ask about my occupation and I proudly reply that I’m a full-time stay-at-home dad, I often receive one of two distinct reactions. Some people react with a mixture of bewilderment and wonder, while others respond with admiration. It’s either, “Really, a full-time dad? That’s interesting! Do you have any other work?” or “Wow, being a full-time dad is impressive; more dads should do that!”
Regardless of the reaction, one thing is abundantly clear: full-time dads are seen as exceptions who challenge societal norms. One of my biggest frustrations arises when someone casually remarks, “Oh, so you babysit the kids full time?” My immediate response is always, “No, I stay home and provide full-time care for my children. I’m not a babysitter.” No one ever questions my

Yes, world, I am indeed a full-time, straight, white stay-at-home dad – that’s a significant part of who I am. But, that’s not the whole story. I also have a real estate business that’s currently on a bit of a hiatus, but that’s just one facet of my multifaceted life. Educating people on this new phenomena of dads being dad is going to be a long haul , We are just a minority on our current social construct and yet science has shown that boys and girls with dads in their lives are more likely to be successful in both their carriers and in their family life.
Research suggests that the absence of a father figure in a child’s life can have various effects, though it’s important to note that individual outcomes can vary widely, and many factors contribute to a child’s development. Some potential effects include:
- Economic Disadvantage:
- Single-parent households, often headed by mothers, are more likely to face economic challenges. Children in fatherless households may be at a higher risk of poverty.
- Education:
- Children in fatherless households may be less likely to excel academically and more likely to drop out of school compared to those in two-parent households.
- Emotional and Behavioral Issues:
- Father absence has been associated with an increased risk of emotional and behavioral problems in children, such as depression, anxiety, and delinquency.
- Higher Risk of Substance Abuse:
- Some studies suggest that children without a father figure may have a higher risk of engaging in substance abuse.
- Teen Pregnancy:
- Girls growing up in fatherless households may be at a higher risk of teenage pregnancy.
- Criminal Justice Involvement:
- Fatherless children may be more likely to be involved in the criminal justice system, including incarceration.
- Social and Relationship Challenges:
- Father absence can impact a child’s ability to form healthy relationships and interact socially.
It’s essential to emphasize that not all children in fatherless households experience negative outcomes. Many single parents and caregivers work diligently to provide stable and nurturing environments for their children, and various support systems and interventions can help mitigate potential challenges associated with father absence.
Furthermore, ongoing research and policy initiatives aim to better understand these dynamics and develop strategies to support families in all their diverse forms.

At the end of the day you are making a difference regardless of what society says. You are feeling a roll and living a calling that no one else can do, being the dad only you can be. Keep going
With unwavering commitment to the journey,
